David Collins Studio has evolved over the years from its earliest days when David Collins set up a practice specialising in small interior architectural jobs, firstly in the residential sector and then gradually encompassing restaurants. As the business grew, David Collins and his business partner Iain Watson decided to look at the way in which the design industry was run and bring a new form of thinking to it inspired by the early 20th Century maverick designers such as Eileen Gray and Le Corbusier, and later Mies van der Rohe. A design studio was envisaged where interior architecture, furniture, lighting and graphic design could all interact and seamlessly produce a single strong vision for individual projects which would have a heart, a soul and a personality, as well as commercial viability.

In recent years, this small business has evolved into David Collins Studio which has the unique mix of a strong and organised discipline, blended with an artisan and artistic approach to design. There is a deliberate and strategic vision to combine art and commerce and produce design of the highest order. Our essence is that design, as Mies van der Rohe once said, is in the detail. We approach every project from a single standpoint which is to create something which is unique, creative and bespoke, encouraging free exchange of ideas with our clients. We like to reinvent ourselves and constantly search for new ways of doing things, improving what we have done before.
